Backdated from previous BA website
The event was very well attended by knowledgable residents from the southern part of Camden. Camden Council are left in no doubt that what we want is a new secondary school for south of thew Euston Road.
e have been screaming for a new Secondary School south of Euston Road for the past 50 years. We NEED a school to cover the West End, including Kings Cross, Bloomsbury, Holborn, Covent GArden and Soho. Its a bad idea to think of building one in Swiss Cottage or enlarging the existing schools .

Time is ticking on for the Building Schools for the Future programme in Camden. The campaign has had meetings with the Office of the Schools Commissioner and with officers from Camden, and while there are major challenges ahead when it comes to ensuring a school is built to serve our community, we are continuing to make our case heard. What we need is confirmation that one of the sites in our area will be available in time for the BSF programme. We have just written to Alan Johnson, Secretary of State for Education asking him to take up our case. Watch this space for more info.
COME ALONG AND HAVE YOUR SAY
local government – important meeting on 24 May!
Camden is, at long last, holding consultation meetings with members of the public about their BSF plans. This is where they listen to what local people think about current and future secondary school provision in Camden. It is really important that this meeting is well-attended, and that our need for a school in this area is reiterated. Please come, and tell your friends and neighbours about it too.
date: Thursday 24 May
time: 7 – 9 pm (we hope childcare will be provided, but feel free to bring children along anyway)
location: Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, WC1
CAMPAIGN MEETING on Tuesday 15 May
We would like to publicise CamdenÂs consultation meeting as widely as possible, and will be printing some flyers. We need help to make sure these are distributed as widely as possible, ideally to parents at primary schools and nurseries. Can you stand at the school gates handing them out during the week beginning 14 May? Or is there a noticeboard in your school or block that needs a poster? If so, please come and pick up some flyers at this meeting, and if you can, stay to discuss other ways to move the campaign forward.
date: Tuesday 15 May
location: Millman St Community rooms, 50 Millman St WC1 ( entrance between nos 34 &36)
