Invitation to participate in a Road Traffic Safety Study.
Dear Association Member 15 April 2005
I am writing to you at the suggestion of your Chairman. As you have a pro-active approach to social issues, he thought you might like to be involved in an important one-off local discussion group on Road Traffic Safety Policy in the UK.
What is it all about?
The Stockholm Environment Institute, based in Stockholm and York, is carrying out research into road safety policy funded by the UK Department for Transport. The project is comparing Swedish and British road safety policy and examining the implications for adopting the Swedish zero target for road crashes.
How you can help
Views from a cross-section of society â from road safety professionals to ordinary people â
are being canvassed as part of the research. Discussion groups are being convened around England to examine in greater detail what people like you think about road safety and the implications of a Vision Zero approach in the UK. The discussion groups will provide vital information to improve UK Government road safety policy.
Why has Camden been selected?
The towns and cities where the discussion groups are being held have been selected on the basis of geography. Camden has been selected as an Inner London Borough.
How to register your interest
There will be two discussion groups in Camden. I can assure you that they will be friendly and informal and that you donât need to have any specialist knowledge! The selection process will aim to get equal numbers of men and women and a good age spread. The meetings will take place at Dragon Hall, Covent Garden on Thursday 5 May at 12.30 to 2.00pm and 6.00pm to 7.30pm.
If you are interested in participating, please e.mail email@example.com, leave a message on 01432 269270 or write to PO Box 19, Hereford HR1 1XJ. Please give your age, gender and a contact telephone number and state whether you would like to attend the afternoon or evening session. I will contact you as quickly as possible and will also write to selected participants and include a map and full directions. All selected participants will receive a Boots voucher at the meeting worth £20 as an acknowledgement of their valuable contribution to the project. Travel expenses will also be reimbursed.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this. I look forward to hearing from you.
