Bloomsbury Village Neighbourhood Plan Project goes Public today, as Parliament gets ready to announce The Localism Act.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the launch of our dedicated website for this project at:

Interesting timing for us, as all the House of Lords amendments to the Localism Bill were accepted by Parlianent a few hours ago. In theory the Bill could become an ACT next week according to experts.

We are looking for your ideas and comments on how you think the area can be improved for the benefit of ALL.

If you are a stakeholder in the area, whether resident, business or landowner you can participate in this project and the planning process for Bloomsbury Village on our interactive web site.

If you have any questions please email:

Many thanks to for providing us with this wonderful resource.

What’s it all About?

The purpose of Neighbourhood Planning as part of Localism is to give local people and businesses greater ownership of the plans and policies which affect their local area.  This is enabled by new legislation that has now completed its passage through parliament and will shortly become law. The intention is to empower communities to take an active role in shaping the future of the areas in which they live and work.

The Bloomsbury Village Neighbourhood Planning Project is a genuine partnership between all the stakeholders of the neighbourhood that fronts The British Museum, covering an area of approximately 20 acres and is visited by over 7 million people each year. Through this project, we will seek ways to improve the social, economic and environmental aspects of Bloomsbury Village and restore some of the character that it seems to have lost.

The advent of The Localism Act will, we hope, help us to achieve this by empowering everyone to have a real say in what happens in our neighbourhood.

Scrap the outdated box ticking consultation culture we say, and replace it with a new culture of Engagement though Dialogue that will ensure civic, corporate and social responsibility and allow the community to be involved in a totally transparent process.

We are setting the pace in the Camden with the Camden Blueprint Project for Neighbourhood Planning, supported by Voluntary Action Camden, and our new dedicated neighbourhood planning web site which we hope will inspire you into action.

Rhetoric is easy, but for this to happen YOUR involvement is required and, to that end, we invite you to participate by joining our Neighbourhood Forum and visiting our web site at where we welcome YOUR participation, YOUR ideas and YOUR comments.

NOTE: Our new domain at  will be activated later this month.
