Please be advised that today (Friday 6th Jan) an official of Camden Council submitted the application for planning permission for the ‘temporary’ fixed site Needle Exchange in the Tottenham Court Road Underpass. It is incredible that this facility should be proposed for “what is regarded as one of the worst underpasses in the country”. source: http://www.skyscrapernews.com/buildings.php?id=102
We have opened a new file on this website to handle documents on this subject. Please navigate to ‘Our Files’ on LHS of this page and then ‘TCR Needle Exchange’.
We have also uploaded a selection of photographs – navigate to our Photo Album, then open Proposed Needle Exchange Premises – of the proposed needle exchange site taken on 10th Jan 2006 outside and inside the subway.
Will £200K (the Camden PCT / DAT budget) be adequate to turn this squalor into a health facility and provide the necessary security and safety the public are entitled to? Is such an underground facility a suitable place to locate a health facility? We do not think so!
